Ali will complete her PhD in Clinical Psychology at the University of British Columbia in November 2023. She completed her pre-doctoral residency with Child and Youth Mental Health (CYMH) on Vancouver Island. Ali works collaboratively and flexibly, by tailoring her approach to meet the unique needs of each client and family. She brings a warm and fun approach to therapy, identifying and building on existing strengths of clients, and facilitating meaningful growth.

Ali has worked with children and youth with a wide range of mental health challenges, particularly anxiety disorders (e.g., selective mutism, generalized anxiety, social anxiety, separation anxiety), OCD, emotion dysregulation, low mood, and adjustment and coping difficulties. In addition to her work with Cornerstone, Ali works in the Mood and Anxiety Disorders Clinic at BC Children’s Hospital. At the hospital, she provides assessment and treatment to children and youth with anxiety and mood disorders and their families.

Ali is passionate about effective, evidence-based treatment. Her approach is grounded in a cognitive-behavioural framework, and she draws on additional evidence-based approaches including dialectical, emotion-focused, and values-based techniques. Ali conducts research in risk and resiliency factors in youth and is the author of 11 peer-reviewed journal articles. She is a member of the Canadian Psychological Association and is presently undergoing the registration process with the College of Psychologists of British Columbia.
