Dr. Beverly Walpole – not accepting new clients

Dr. Walpole is a registered clinical psychologist (College of Psychologists of B.C. Registration #2260). She completed both her Masters and Doctorate degrees in Clinical-Developmental Psychology at the University of Guelph, Ontario.
With over 10 years of experience in child-focused settings across Canada, including pediatric hospitals, schools and private clinics, Dr. Walpole brings valuable knowledge and skill to her clients. Her interpersonal style is collaborative, genuine and empathic. She is passionate about working with youth, young adults and parents experiencing a wide range of emotional and behavioural issues, including:
- Healthy lifestyle management/weight loss difficulties
- Increasing motivation/readiness to change
- Psychological distress related to medical condition (e.g., diabetes)
- Behavioural challenges (e.g., outbursts, irritability)
- Worry/anxiety (e.g., social anxiety, perfectionism, school refusal)
- Low self-esteem, low self confidence, sadness/depression
- Difficulties coping with stress
- Life transitions (e.g., family fractures, losing friends, moving)
Dr. Walpole’s generalist orientation allows her to draw from a variety of evidence-based approaches to treatment, including: mindfulness, interpersonal psychotherapy, motivational interviewing and cognitive-behavioural therapy. Dr. Walpole is a practitioner of holistic health and wellness. She encourages clients to explore the integration of alternative approaches to health alongside psychological services (e.g., holistic nutrition, movement & meditation). Creating a healthy mind-body connection is critical to achieving optimal wellness.
Currently, Dr. Walpole splits her time between private practice and her role within the medical psychology program at BC Children’s Hospital. At the hospital, Dr. Walpole works to help improve socio-emotional functioning in children with chronic and/or acute medical illness. Dr. Walpole’s academic pursuits include teaching and training health practitioners in enhancing healthy behaviour, as well as clinical research which focuses on Motivational Interviewing as a technique to elicit change.
