Dr. Laura-Lynn Stewart
Associate, Registered Psychologist
Dr. Laura-Lynn Stewart is a registered psychologist who specializes in working with children, adolescents, and parents. She provides a personalized approach to client care and strives to establish a safe, trusting, and collaborative relationship with each of her clients and their families. The care she provides is warm, respectful, and scientifically supported.
Dr. Stewart completed her doctorate in School and Clinical Child Psychology at the University of Toronto. She has trained in a variety of settings, including BC Children’s Hospital, the Centre for Addiction and Mental Health, the Toronto District School Board, and Accessibility Services of the University of Toronto.
In her private practice, Dr. Stewart offers both assessment and treatment services. She has a passion for providing comprehensive psychoeducational and social-emotional assessments that are strength-based and designed to provide families with helpful and effective recommendations. Dr. Stewart also enjoys providing therapeutic services for a variety of concerns using cognitive-behavioural therapy (CBT) and behavioural interventions, with elements of play therapy, interpersonal psychotherapy, and motivational interviewing. Her current areas of practice include: learning styles/disabilities, giftedness, attention and impulsivity problems, school adjustment, anxiety, low mood, social and behavioural difficulties, and general challenges in coping with stress and adjustment.
In addition to her work at Cornerstone, Dr. Stewart is a staff psychologist at BC Children’s Hospital. At the hospital, she works with children and youth who have experienced trauma and family-related adversity (e.g., abuse, neglect, exposure to violence, foster care, adoption). She also provides services for children and youth with hearing loss who have experienced cognitive, learning, and socio-emotional difficulties.
