Dr. Sara Colalillo
Dr. Sara Colalillo is committed to working collaboratively with youth and their caregivers in leading purposeful, meaningful lives. She takes an evidence-based approach to assessment and treatment and strives to help children, adolescents, and their families feel understood and empowered. Dr. Colalillo treats a range of mental health difficulties in school-age children and adolescents, including anxiety, low mood, emotion dysregulation, and obsessive-compulsive disorder. She also provides support to parents in helping their children cope with challenges. In so doing, Dr. Colalillo employs scientifically-supported techniques drawn from cognitive-behavioral therapy, dialectical-behavior therapy, acceptance and commitment therapy, and emotion-focused family therapy. She tailors her approach to meet the needs and goals of each individual family.
Dr. Colalillo completed her PhD in Clinical Psychology at The University of British Columbia. She conducted several research projects on parenting and family relationships, and gained extensive experience working with families of children with attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder. She completed her pre-doctoral residency at McMaster Children’s Hospital, where she worked in the Child and Youth Mental Health Program and Pediatric Chronic Pain Program. She is in the process of registering with the BC College of Psychologists.
