Christine Yu, M.A.

Associate

Christine has worked extensively in the field of anxiety, both as a researcher and a practitioner. Prior to returning to graduate school, she worked for several years as a Registered Clinical Counsellor. She has completed her course work and clinical training in the Ph.D. program in Counselling Psychology at the University of British Columbia, and is currently practicing under the supervision of a Registered Psychologist. Her research is focusing on investigating parents’ experiences of seeking and accessing treatment for their children with anxiety.

Christine enjoys working with children, youth and their families to increase confidence, resilience, and social-emotional well-being. After completing her pre-doctoral internship at a university counselling centre, Christine also works with young adults. With her warm and compassionate nature, she brings a collaborative approach to evidence-based treatment for anxiety and works to tailor therapeutic work to clients’ interests. She is particularly interested in providing services to those struggling with social anxiety, separation anxiety, phobias, OCD, tic disorders, mood challenges, and trauma. She has completed the International OCD Foundation Pediatric Behaviour Therapy Training Institute.

In addition to her clinical work, Christine aims to increase awareness and promote mental health literacy in the community. She joined Anxiety Canada’s Scientific Advisory Committee as a doctoral student member in January 2018 and remains a registered member of the BC Association for Clinical Counsellors (Registration #10298). She also belongs to several professional associations, including the Canadian Psychological Association and the International OCD Foundation.
