Dr. Penny Sneddon

Director, Registered Psychologist

Dr. Sneddon received her Ph.D. in clinical, counselling and school psychology at Utah State University.  She is passionate about providing evidence-based treatment and committed to providing the highest standard of care.

Dr. Sneddon has trained and treated clients in a variety of settings and brings this diverse skill set and experience to her daily clinical work. Using primarily a cognitive behavioural treatment approach, Dr. Sneddon routinely helps children and youth dealing with a variety of common childhood disorders.  She has a particular interest in treating anxiety, chronic pain, psychological distress related to medical concerns, adjustment issues, and parenting strategies for behavioural problems. In addition to working with children and youth, Dr. Sneddon uses a collaborative and engaging approach to teach strategies and instill confidence to help clients flourish.

In addition to her work at Cornerstone, Dr. Sneddon is a staff psychologist in Medical Inpatient and Outpatient Psychology Services at BC Children’s Hospital.  Dr. Sneddon is also active in teaching and research through her appointments as Clinical Assistant Professor in the Department of Pediatrics at the University of British Columbia and at the Child and Family Research Institute.  She is a Registered Psychologist with the College of Psychologists of British Columbia (Registrant #1851).

She is a member of the BC Psychological Association and is certified in cognitive-behavioural therapy through the Canadian Association of Cognitive and Behavioural Therapies.
