Dr. Sarah Anderson

Associate, Registered Psychologist

Dr. Anderson received her Ph.D. in child-clinical psychology at Simon Fraser University. She completed her pre-doctoral residency at BC Children’s Hospital, working with children and adolescents with a wide range of medical and mental health challenges, such as medical concerns (e.g., chronic pain, needle phobia, treatment adherence, coping with illness, somatization), anxiety (e.g., selective mutism, generalized anxiety, social anxiety, separation anxiety), OCD, mood challenges, eating disorders, and gender dysphoria.

With her comfortable and approachable style, she meets her clients where they are at to provide evidence-based approaches that build on individual strengths, improve functioning and well-being, and work towards therapeutic goals. She aims to create space to collaborate with her clients and their families and to provide personalized care in a safe and trusting environment. Dr. Anderson is passionate about helping her clients learn strategies that result in changes extending far beyond the therapy room.

In addition to her work at Cornerstone, she is a post-doctoral fellow in the Mood and Anxiety Disorders Clinic at BC Children’s Hospital and the Department of Psychiatry at the University of British Columbia, where she provides clinical services to children, youth, and families and conducts research to better understand mood and anxiety disorders in an effort to more successfully support families. She belongs to several professional associations, including the Association for Behavioral and Cognitive Therapies and the Canadian Psychological Association. Dr. Anderson is registered with the College of Psychologists of British Columbia (Registration # 2548).
